The Viking Explorer Canoe is a general purpose canoe designed with strength and stability to withstand the most rigorous test. Whether it is being used as a white-water canoe for the enthusiast, a utilitarian canoe on a rental line, or as the family's recreational canoe, the Viking Explorer Canoe answers these needs.

Canoes are being manufactured in today's rapidly expanding market of aluminum, plastic. wood, fiberglass, and variations of each. Manufacturers choose different materials depending on their needs ranging from strength and durability to cost of construction. Therefore, we have chosen fiberglass as the material most suitable for the sophisticated hull design of the Viking Explorer Canoe. Whether you take your family on an extended wilderness river trip or a day trip fishing, you want to know that your canoe is of the best design and materials for all-around safety and dependability.

The Viking Explorer Canoe design is a culmination of research and development and actual use since 1965. Its use in white water has given its designers the satisfaction of knowing that its flared gunwales, keel and high bow, are the best designs available for keeping the canoe dry, stable and on track.

The Viking canoe has a 16' hull, 41" beam, 26" bow, 15" side wall and carries 1000 lbs. of payload. Even with its overwhelming ability to carry such large, heavy loads, it only weighs 89 lbs., making it easy to load and unload for convenient transportation and portage to and from your favorite recreational spot.

For long trips, ease, and mobility, Viking has designed an easily attachable outrigger and sail. The sail offers 54 sq. feet of mainsail and 36 sq. feet of jib. The outrigger adds tremendous stability to the canoe plus has a trampoline extending between the canoe and the outrigger, giving room for another passenger or additional cargo.

If paddling or sailing don't fit your taste, the Viking Explorer has a square stern for up to a five horsepower outboard motor. As you can see, from running white water, sailing , fishing or a placid lake or treking deep into the wilderness, the Viking Explorer Canoe is the all-around answer to your canoeing needs.
